Abstract

The article gives a picture of a long tradition of writing and compiling books by number of writers and scholars hailing from Surat, Inida for which the article writer substantiates number of authenticated sources of Urdu, Persian and English languages. The work of Raziuddin Ahmed, nicknamed Bakhsho Mian, titled, Hadiqa-e Ahmadi portrays short biographies of the intellectual landscape of the area in which many little known poets and writers have been discussed as the book compiled after benefitting around 444 works on the subject. The work is archived in the collection of Dr Abdul Rehman Barkar preserved in the ISATC, Qualumpur, Malisia. The article dispels misconception about Hadiqatul Hind, one of its manuscripts archived in the Punjab University, as an independent piece of work by saying that it is the third volume of Hadiqa-e Ahmadi.
