Abstract

This article aims at presenting life and works of Maulana Muhammed Akram Khan who lived a very active political and intellectual life. He pioneered journalism in Bangladesh in which the voices and issues of Muslims were presented. He also actively participated in Pakistan Movement. He had written Tafseer culminated in five volumes. This was the first full-length tafsir of the holy Quran in the Bangla Language in true sense. He also wrote Mustafa Cheerat, a biography of Hazrat Muhammed (pbuh). A social history of Bangladeshi people was written. He wanted to undertake the task for volumes but he died after completing one volume. He also disseminated the message of poet Allama Iqbal. He was himself a poet and Pakistan Nama was published in which his poetry was compiled. He knew languages like Urdu, Persian, Arabic, English and Sanskrit.
