Markaz-e Tehqiqat-e Farsi-e Iran wa Pakestan (Iran-Pakistan Institute of Persian Studies) was established on 23 October, 1971 and now completing its 50 years in October 2021. The writer of this article being a fellow of the Institute and a keen observer of the events taken place during these years explains aims of its establishment; organization; academic activities, unites of the Institute; some important publications; producing facsimile editions; microfilming/scanning of manuscripts, holding conferences, extending cooperation with Pakistan’s entities; cataloging and indexing of manuscripts and old Persian printed books; promoting cultural exchange between Iran and Pakistan for which it came into being h. Its library, titled, Kitabkhana-e Ganj Bakhsh, named to Shaikh ‘Ali bin ‘Usman Hujwiri widely known as “Daata Ganj Bakhsh”, houses 17340 manuscripts of Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Punjabi, Pashtu, Sindhi, Turkey etc till this date. This is one of the second biggest collections in Pakistan after the Punjab University Lahore. This library also holds 49170 printed books and periodicals. The writer also pointed out the decline of Institute since 2013.
