Abstract

This article highlights Begum Atiya Faizi was behind Allama Iqbal’s as stimulating motivation to write his Persian poetry. It also shares how her relationship with the poet began in London. Allama Iqbal met Atiya Faizi in 1907 in London when he went there to pursue his education. Atiya was also there but she did not complete her education there. This article sheds light on how Allama Iqbal came to know Atiya was in London while he was in Cambridge then. In a dinner at a hotel in London, she was invited there to meet Allama Iqbal. Inspired with Allama Iqbal in the dinner, she mentioned it in her letters telling him ‘hafiz’ of Hafiz (memorizer of known Persian classical poet Hafiz). Her book Iqbal has to say much for people interested in understating Allama Iqbal poetry.
