Abstract

This Urdu translation of an English text presents the autobiography of Haji Ghulam Muhammad Munshi written in 1893. The autobiography contains a relatively long dedication, preface, ten very brief chapters of which tenth chapter is of conclusion. In the beginning, the biographer briefed the reason for writing it and unfolded much about his endeavors for the Muslims struggling in many ways such as seeking employment in the Railway and other government functionaries. It also made it clear that the noted Muslims were little recognized by the state. The biographer tried his best to advocate their cases through correspondence with the state departments concerned to do justice with them. The biography also shed light on some of the books in which Resala Najmul Alamaat had great important as it was one of the foremost texts of its nature: sing of composition for Urdu prose. His efforts for education for the Muslims young were also discussed and in the end of the text he advised the young people of his time to refrain from bad habits.
