Abstract

Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali was a charismatic figure in the Muslime intellectual history. Imam Ghazali is widely known to be speculative theologian (mutakallim) of the Ash’arite school of Kalam theology. This article aim at highlighting and analyzing blames and arguments on Ghazali as he was responsible for the decadence of the Muslim Ummah; he was the imperative cause of the death of rationalism in Islamic history and nothing good can come out of his philosophy. It clarifies that he did not denounce philosophy in essence in Tahafahal-falasifa. Ghazali was also brilliant in linguistic. He employed a rich reservoir of vocabulary in Islamic tradition in a vibrant. He explained Divine unity (Towhid) in his monumental work (lhya).
